“In addition to marine nature and archipelago culture, I am interested in rougher subjects and the interface between humans and nature.”

Elina Nuortie:

Great that you stopped by my picture shop!

Browse through the photo themes and pick the ones you like. You’ll notice that life by the sea is a recurring theme in my work. The gallery features photos from Finland and around the world. You can order them as prints or as framed art. Check out the products! You’re sure to find something perfect for your needs: a painting for your home, office, or cottage; a gift for a newlywed couple, a housewarming party, a birthday celebrant, or just a good friend!

In addition to photography, I work as a graphic designer and writer. Among other things, I design layouts for books and calendars.

I have created images through drawing, painting, and printmaking. I was already exposing film as a elementary school student using a camera-like device I built myself, and the SLR camera became my standard tool in the 1990s. I have also been passionately compiling photo albums and scrapbooks since I was a child. I have honed my skills at an art high school, the Free Art School, courses at the University of Art and Design and the Adult Education Center, as well as through professional qualifications in image processing and web design.

For example, I have:

  • been involved in dozens of book projects as a writer, photographer, photo editor, and/or graphic designer, and published five books of my own

  • designed numerous product images, sales packaging, and other marketing materials for Finnish companies

  • been a member of the team behind the Finnish Association for Nature Conservation's classic product, the Nature Calendar, for over 20 years

  • sold photos and articles to numerous print and digital publications, as well as prints for private and public spaces

  • curated photography exhibitions, recycled four exhibitions of my own, and participated in several joint exhibitions

  • have served on the judging panels for the Nature Photo of the Year and Fotofinlandia competitions, among others.

Check out the amazing projects I have been involved in
