During the Ice Age, the continental ice that covered Finland formed magnificent riches moutonnées or smooth rocks on its shores. The ice flowed toward the edge of the glacier, and the grooves carved by the rocks that traveled with it reveal where the ice came from and where it went. Smooth rocks are always found upstream. Lying on smooth rocks warmed by the sun and scented by the sea is one of the finest moments of summer. The warmth lingers in them long after the sun has set.

HOME SHORES – Pictures from the Finnish coast

My oldest, everlasting love is the sea that laps against the shores of my homeland. I have been photographing it ever since I was a child, spending my summers in the Iniö archipelago.
