Heather Season

starting at €90.00

As the grain ripens, flowering heather (Calluna vulgaris) grows in the sparse rocky forests, dry heaths, and sandy moors of the home shores. The scent of abundant growth is strong on calm August evenings, and its rich nectar feeds many insects, from butterflies to bees and heather moths. The modest heather on the home shore may well be 25 or even 50 years old!

HOME SHORES – Pictures from the Finnish coast

My oldest, eternal love is the sea that laps at the shores of my homeland. I have been photographing it since I was a child, spending my summers in the Iniö archipelago. I have accumulated photos from several decades. I have also published two books about it: Kuohu – koukussa saaristoon (The Surge – Hooked on the Archipelago) and Meri, joka jalkojani huuhtelee (The Sea That Rinses My Feet). You can inquire about them by the Contact us page. In this set of images, I have compiled some of the most memorable shots from my home shores over the years.
