Early summer is filled with the hustle and bustle of birds and the intoxicating soundscape, but by midsummer the commotion calms down and the serene nights are marked by silence. The warmth of the sun lingers in the in the scent of the rocks and the wild chive’s onion fragrance. The fleeting summer lives on only in memories.

HOME SHORES – Pictures from the Finnish coast

My oldest, eternal love is the sea that laps at the shores of my homeland. I have been photographing it since I was a child, spending my summers in the Iniö archipelago. I have accumulated photos from several decades. I have also published two books about it: Kuohu – koukussa saaristoon (The Surge – Hooked on the Archipelago) and Meri, joka jalkojani huuhtelee (The Sea That Rinses My Feet).
