The Finnish archipelago offers experiences for all the senses, in all seasons. In autumn, you can experience silence and peace, or sometimes raging storms. The reed beds have turned golden, and the colors of the wet rocks stand out beautifully. This photo was included as a large print in the Saarikuvia photo exhibition that I toured around our coastal and archipelago communities in 2006–2007.

HOME SHORES – Pictures from the Finnish coast

My oldest, eternal love is the sea that laps at the shores of my homeland. I have been photographing it since I was a child, spending my summers in the Iniö archipelago. I have accumulated photos from several decades. I have also published two books about it: Kuohu – koukussa saaristoon (The Foam – Hooked on the Archipelago) and Meri joka jalkojani huuhtelee (The Sea That Washes My Feet).
