The flow and cooling speed of lava determines the shapes and cracks that form on the surface. The very few colors present revealed the composition of the lava: red is iron, greenish or bluish is copper, and yellow is sulfur. There is little life on the lava field other than a few cacti and lizards. The small lizards ran so fast that the lava must have burned their toes.
