The Finnish summer is beautifully encapsulated in the woolly balls basking in the summer night sun. A plant that grows in various damp places throughout the country, the bog moss (Eriophorum angustifolium) thrives in extensive bogs, on the shores of wetlands, and in tiny salt marshes in rock crevices. Its spikes wither into woolly tufts, which get wet in the rain and dry again in the wind, delighting nature lovers for a surprisingly long time.

HOME SHORES – Pictures from the Finnish coast

My oldest, eternal love is the sea that laps at the shores of my homeland. I have been photographing it since I was a child, spending my summers in the Iniö archipelago. I have accumulated photos from several decades. I have also published two books about it: Kuohu – koukussa saaristoon (The Surge – Hooked on the Archipelago) and Meri, joka jalkojani huuhtelee (The Sea That Rinses My Feet). You can inquire about them by the Contact us page. In this set of images, I have compiled some of the most memorable shots from my home shores over the years.
