Wavy Hair-grass

starting at €90.00

In early summer, the rocks of the archipelago appear to turn a warm brick red when viewed from a distance. This impression is caused by the wood small-reed (Deschampsia flexuosa). Towards autumn, this grass, which is one of the most common in Finland, ripens to a straw yellow color. Its gauzy, light inflorescence and thin branches are like fairies floating in the air. So common – so beautiful!

HOME SHORES – Pictures from the Finnish coast

My oldest, eternal love is the sea that laps at the shores of my homeland. I have been photographing it since I was a child, spending my summers in the Iniö archipelago. I have accumulated photos from several decades. I have also published two books about it: Kuohu – koukussa saaristoon (The Surge – Hooked on the Archipelago) and Meri, joka jalkojani huuhtelee (The Sea That Rinses My Feet). You can inquire about them by the Contact us page. In this set of images, I have compiled some of the most memorable shots from my home shores over the years.
