Wavy Hair-grass

starting at €90.00

In early summer, viewed from a distance, the archipelago’s cliffs appear to turn a warm brick red. This effect is caused by wavy hairgrass (Deschampsia flexuosa). As autumn approaches, this grass—one of Finland’s most common—turns a straw-yellow. The gossamer-thin branches of its feathery, light inflorescence are like fairies floating in the air. So common—so beautiful!

HOME SHORES – Pictures from the Finnish coast

My oldest, everlasting love is the sea that laps against the shores of my homeland. I have been photographing it ever since I was a child, spending my summers in the Iniö archipelago. I have accumulated photos spanning several decades. I have also published two books on the subject: *Kuohu – Hooked on the Archipelago* and *The Sea That Washes My Feet*. Please contact me for more information about them. In this series, I have compiled some of the most memorable shots from my home shores over the years.
