Orangutan

starting at €90.00

I photographed this male Bornean orangutan in a protected area in Kalimantan, Indonesia. In this fragment of hot, humid rainforest, it can still live the life of a true forest dweller, the orangutan – albeit as a highly endangered species. Orangutans are threatened by mining, logging, and forest fires, which are used to clear land for oil palm plantations. Illegal and harmful activities also take place in protected areas. The easiest way to protect orangutans is to avoid buying products that contain unhealthy palm oil (often hidden under the name vegetable oil), such as many cookies, pastries, and ready meals, some soaps, candles, and cosmetics, as well as biodiesel made from palm oil.

THEIR LAND – A series of organisms in their territories

A series of photographs featuring various organisms living alone or in communities within their territories. Their own land is a crucial habitat that knows no human-made boundaries such as national borders, property lines, or other. In their own land, organisms not only coexist peacefully with its own species and others, but also engage in mutual conflicts and fierce competition based on natural selection and balance – a struggle for existence.

The images in this series can be ordered with or without a white border and stylish info text.
