Orangutan

starting at €90.00

I photographed this male Bornean orangutan in a protected area in Kalimantan, Indonesia. In this fragment of hot, humid rainforest, it can still live the life of a true man of the forest, the orangutan – albeit as a highly endangered species. Orangutans are threatened by mining, logging, and forest fires, which are used to clear land for oil palm plantations. Illegal and harmful activities also take place in protected areas. The easiest way to protect orangutans is to avoid buying products that contain unhealthy palm oil (often hidden under the name vegetable oil), such as many cookies, pastries, and ready meals, some soaps, candles, and cosmetics, as well as biodiesel made from palm oil.

THEIR LAND – A set of organisms in their habitats

The images in this set can be ordered with or without a white border and stylish info text.
