Buoys´ Hibernation

starting at €90.00

I photographed the buoys at Jurmo Harbor during a legendary trip in February 2011. The harbor was so frozen over that the ferry couldn't get anywhere near it. Our group had to walk to the island across the ice in pitch darkness. At that time, the archipelago presented a true old-fashioned winter with is frozen landscapes, snowstorms, and gusty winds. Those buoys hat to wait for spring in and icy embarace for a few more months.

HOME SHORES – Pictures from the Finnish coast

My oldest, eternal love is the sea that laps at the shores of my homeland. I have been photographing it since I was a child, spending my summers in the Iniö archipelago. I have accumulated photos from several decades. I have also published two books about it: Kuohu – koukussa saaristoon (The Surge – Hooked on the Archipelago) and Meri, joka jalkojani huuhtelee (The Sea That Rinses My Feet). You can inquire about them by the Contact us page. In this set of images, I have compiled some of the most memorable shots from my home shores over the years.
