Green seaweed flutters at the water's edge, the beard of an ancient water god. The filamentous whisks rock to the eternal rhythm of the waves. When the sea level is low, as it often is in spring and early summer, the strands left dry turn white, like those of an old man. The tresses of algae create beautifully embroidered tapestries along the shore.
